Our Sentiments are with The Victims of Recent Storms

170831 Hurricane Irma Feature

On behalf of all Surinamese, I express my solidarity with all our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean that have been hit by hurricanes Irma and Jose. Also, for those expecting to be hit, please stay safe. Our prayers are with you.

What these two hurricanes have left behind is devastating. Severe flooding and high winds have taken several human lives and left catastrophic damages. We mourn the victims of these disasters, and wish a quick recovery for the injured.

Suriname identifies with the Caribbean as much as the islands do. We share the same culture and traditions. All those affected by this tragedy are in our thoughts and prayers. And we want them to remember that courage has always driven the Caribbean. Now it is the time to honor this great value that defines us. My heart is with you.

Sincerely,

Gillmore Hoefdraad.
